Marie Olive & Moses’ Story
Marie Olive and Moses, coffee farmers in the Kayonza region, have been able to expand their dreams for their business and for their family of six since graduating from the Kula Fellowship. The couple won a Kula Business Grant for their grinding business, and they combined the grant with their own savings to purchase a needed motor and two grinding machines with the intent of scaling their operations. They were then able to reinvest a portion of their profits to buy two additional specialized grinding machines, setting themselves apart in their local industry.
With the vision of a full-circle business and utmost sustainability practices, Marie Olive and Moses use the grinding machine byproduct as food for their chickens which support their 4 kids with eggs - and fertilizer for their coffee farm.
Now, through their thriving business, they have been able to provide a brighter future for themselves and their children.
