The Circle in motion
Jacqueline Muragijimana, a young mother, coffee farmer, and entrepreneur, is proof of the power of collective growth and regenerative impact.
Through the Kula Fellowship, she discovered a belief in her ability to start a business. She turned that belief into action with the support of accessible finance from her VSLA, named Tugire Ubukire. Beginning the program with only coffee farming, she now has a total of four sources providing steady income for her family including coffee farming, vegetable farming, owning a local bar, and a group business of pepper farming. Jacqueline has been able to transform their life by diversifying and increasing their revenue streams, more than doubling their household income.
But the impact doesn’t stop there. As Jacqueline used the profits of her businesses to repay her loans and replenish group savings, she also fostered the opportunity for her fellow members to start businesses of their own. From bananas to rabbits, and cassava flour to eggs, each member of Tugire Ubukire has built upon her success, creating profitable businesses that continuously feed back into their collective progress. As Jacqueline explains, “We use the loans to strengthen our businesses and the profits to repay the loans, which helps us save together, solve problems in our lives, and continue to support each other's businesses.” This continuous flow of resources and support has not only improved the lives of Jacqueline and her group members, but also their neighbors, local economy, and community as a whole.
Jacqueline’s story is regenerative impact in motion, where success is shared, impact is multiplied, and progress is ongoing, creating a new sustained ecosystem of growth.
