A coffee subscription that actually supports coffee farmers.
To keep coffee sustainable, farmers need your support.
In case you didn’t know, we love coffee.
If you’re reading this, you probably love coffee too. Since 2012, Kula has been working to ensure that coffee farmers also love, enjoy and benefit from it,
as much as we do.
While the global coffee industry booms, millions of smallholder farmers live in poverty.
Really you say? Even while I pay $7 for a latte?
Yes, really.
There are many reasons for this, including climate change, low farm productivity, lack of resources and training, and dependency on a single, volatile revenue stream, to name a few- meaning that an estimated 12 million coffee farmers live on less than $3 per day, the World Bank’s definition of extreme poverty.
While valuing your coffee and paying more for it is good, the reality is that for millions of coffee farmers, even higher coffee prices does not make a meaningful difference for their incomes and livelihoods- more is needed. Through the Kula Fellowship, coffee farmers receive in-depth training, materials, access to finance and personalized coaching, on average doubling their harvest and their revenue streams, and tripling their income.

We are committed to ensuring a supportive, equipped, well-resourced workplace where our team members can thrive. This includes competitive compensation packages, generous annual, maternity and paternity leave, and continual professional development. While this priority requires financial, time and energy investment, we believe it is vital to ensuring organizational sustainability and long-term impacts.
We believe it is essential for leadership and staff to be representative of the communities they support. We also believe that the strongest work is done through a collaborative process, connecting both local and global voices and perspectives to share, learn and grow. As of 2025, 50% of our senior leadership team and 92% of our team overall is Rwandan by nationality, and 50% are female.
Our team is comprised of passionate, knowledgeable, experienced individuals, each bringing both personal and professional backgrounds to help shape the development and implementation of our work. While our administrative staff executes vision and strategy, staff development, monitoring and evaluation, bookkeeping, fundraising, and operational oversight, our field teams of agronomists and business coaches bring the Fellowship Program to life and ensure that each Fellow is maximizing its resources and potential.
